Why fee math matters
A $300 Pokémon card sold on eBay nets roughly $250 after final value fees, payment processing, and shipping costs. Same card on TCGplayer Direct nets ~$240. Same card via Whatnot break: ~$255. Choosing the wrong platform costs 2-5% per sale, which compounds fast across a portfolio.
Grading flips the math too. A raw $40 card grading PSA 10 to $180 looks like a 4.5x — but factor in $25 grading cost, $15 round-trip shipping, and the 15-30% PSA 10 success rate, and the actual return is closer to 1.8x expected value.
